As in so many places in Mexico, Tijuana's long-distance bus station (tel 6/626-1701 for information) is miles from the centre - almost thirty minutes on the blue-and-white local bus marked "Centro" which run through the centre on C 2-A (Juarez) and pass the border on the way to the terminal; take them in preference to taxis, which quite legally charge extortionate fares of around $15, though you could always haggle if you have the patience. Taxis to other points in Tijuana are not so bad, provided the meter is working, but you'll still save a lot by finding out which bus to take. Buses from Rosarito and Ensenada drop you at the Central Vieja bus station where, at the corner of First and Madero, you're in the town centre.

The airport (tel 6/683-2418 or 683-2118) is slightly closer in than the bus station, and frequent buses run from there into town; cabs, found on the street in front of the airport, are costly at around US$10 after bargaining.
