fiogf49gjkf0d Tuxtla has two
airports
. The
Aeropuerto San Juan
, near Ocozocautla on a hilltop often shrouded in fog, 28km to the west of town, is generally used only in summer; colectivos run from here into the city.
Aeropuerto Francisco Sarabia
(also called
Aeropuerto TerA?n
) is more convenient, 7km west of the city; taxis or colectivos will take you into the centre. First-class
buses
pull in to the ADO/CristA?bal ColA?n station on Av 2 Nte at C 2 Pte. To reach the centre (you can leave luggage at the juice bar
Miroslava
opposite), turn left from the entrance onto C 2 Pte Nte and left again when you reach Av Central. The main second-class terminal, used by Autotransportes Tuxtla GutiA©rrez (ATG) and a couple of smaller companies, takes up half a block of 3 Sur Ote, near 7 Ote, 1km southeast of the centre: for the zA?calo, follow C 2 Sur west past the market area until you hit C Central Sur, then turn right.
Avenida Central
(also known as Av 14 de Septiembre and Blvd Belisario DomAnguez) is the town's focus, with the
zA?calo
right at the centre. The centre of Tuxtla is arranged in the usual Chiapas
grid of numbered streets
fanning out from Av Central, running east-west, and C Central, which runs north-south. You'll see the streets named not just as Av 3 Nte, but as Av 3 Nte Pte, which defines which quarter of the city you're in - it can be extremely confusing if you're looking for the junction of 3 Nte Pte with 3 Pte Nte.
