Kathmandu is the obvious place to do some serious
shopping
, especially if it's your last stop before leaving the country. Just about all of the handicrafts are sold in or around Kathmandu. Usually items will be cheaper where they're actually made, but keen competition keeps prices low in the capital. The majority of wool, metal, wood and "Tibetan" items are made in the valley anyway.
