The coastal boat ( Hurtigrute ) docks in the centre of town at the foot of Kirkegata; buses arrive and leave from the adjacent car park. The tourist office , Destination Tromso, is at Storgata 61, near the Domkirke (June to mid-Aug Mon-Fri 8.30am-6pm, Sat & Sun 10am-5pm; rest of year Mon-Fri 8.30am-4pm), and issues free town maps as well as having a small supply of private rooms at around 300kr per double per night (200kr single). The large and basic hostel , Troms o Vandrerhjem , Gitta Jonsons vei 4 (tel 77 68 53 19; ?5-10/$8-16; late June to late Aug), is located approximately 2km west of the quay, a steep twenty-minute walk up Fr. Langesgate. Alternatively, try one of two reasonable guest houses : Skipperhuset Pensjonat , Storgata 112 (tel 77 68 16 60; ?15-20/$24-32), or Kongsbakken , on the hillside directly west of the city centre at Skolegata 24 (tel 77 68 22 08; ?15-20/$24-32). The nearest campsite , Tromsdalen Camping , lies over the bridge on the mainland, about 1500m beyond the Arctic Cathedral. It has cabins and is open all year; several city buses go near there - ask at the bus station. Tromso has a varied selection of restaurants , cafes and pubs . For excellent coffee, pastries and light snacks try Kaffebonna , Strandtorvet 1. Aunegarden , at Sjogata 29, has everything from coffee and tasty cake to traditional Norwegian dishes. The Sjomatrestauranten Arctandria and the adjacent Biffhuset , Strandtorget 1, have excellent food for around 200kr per person a main course, and a good, lively pub, Skarven . In the evening, Bla Rock Cafe , Strandgata 14, is a lively spot with a CD jukebox and weekend discos.
