fiogf49gjkf0d Buses
from PanamA? City arrive at the
terminal
at the intersection of Via Central and the Interamericana every twenty minutes or so, and it's easy to flag down any through bus going east or west along the Interamericana. There are two
places to stay
: the
Hotel Dos Continentes
(tel 997 9325, fax 997 9390; US$15-25) opposite the bus terminal is good value, with clean, spacious but unimaginative rooms with air-conditioning; rooms at the friendly
Residencial El Paisa
(tel 997 9242; US$10-15), just off the plaza on Av Manuel Amador Guerrero, are cramped and slightly stuffy.
Of the town's several
restaurants
, the best is at the
Hotel Dos Continentes
, which is popular and particularly good for breakfast. There are three restaurants called
Gallo Pinto
, each with menus as original as their name - the best is opposite
El Paisa
. On the Interamericana,
Las Tinajas
is a reasonably inexpensive self-service place, while
Parillada
, also on the Interamericana, offers reasonable pizza and barbecued meat. The
post office
is on Via Central, as is the
Banco del Istmo
, which has an ATM and changes travellers' cheques.
