fiogf49gjkf0d Cusco's centre is small enough to
walk
around.
Taxis
can be waved down on any street, particularly on the Plaza de Armas, Avenida Sol and around the market end of Plaza San Francisco; rides within Cusco cost under $1 or $2-3 for trips to the suburbs or up to Sacsayhuaman and Quenko (some
taxistas
may prefer to charge $5 and wait for you, in which case give them half in advance and the remainder at the end of the journey). The city
bus
network is incredibly complicated to fathom, though it's cheap enough and fast, but it's largely unregulated, with minibuses chalking up their destinations in the front windscreens. More useful are the
colectivos
that run up and down Avenida Sol every couple of minutes, many of them starting from Plaza San Francisco, during daylight hours, stopping at street corners if they have any seats left; these charge a flat fare (about $0.2) and can be hailed on virtually any corner along the route For
private minibuses
(with driver) around the region, try Cultura Verde (tel 270292), or if you fancy driving yourself,
car rental
is available at Auto Andes (tel 247241). The
bicycle rental
offered by Bicy Centro Atoq, Calle Saphi 674 (tel 236324), is good value and the standard of maintenance is high; expect to pay around $5 an hour to $30 a day (best booked in advance).
