Davao is well served by air and ferry from Manila. Philippine Airlines, Air Philippines and Cebu Pacific all have daily flights, while WG&A Superferry and Negros Navigation both have at least two departures a week, depending on season. The airport is north of Davao. Taxis, charging a flat fare of P100, will take you into the city. Ferries dock either at the northeastern end of the city at Santa Ana Wharf, near Magsaysay Park, or further out of town at Sasa Wharf. There are jeepneys from both to the city. Ferries also leave these piers for other Visayan destinations, including Cebu and Iloilo and to other cities on Mindanao. Buses to other parts of Mindanao leave from the Ecoland Terminal in Quimpo Boulevard, across the Davao River on the southwestern oustkirts of the city.

Davao is significantly less polluted and congested than Manila. On the western edge of the city is San Pedro Street , where there is a big choice of budget accommodation. San Pedro is linked to Quezon Boulevard, which heads northeast to Magsaysay Park and Santa Ana Wharf. From Magsaysay Park, Leon Garcia Street heads northeast out of the city towards the airport.

The tourist information office (Mon-Sat 8am-6pm; tel 082/222 1956) is on the second floor of City Hall, San Pedro Street, and there's another, smaller tourist office in Magsaysay Park, at Santa Ana wharf (Mon-Fri 8am-noon & 1-5pm; tel 082/221 6955 or 221 0070); this is the office to come to if you want permission to climb Mount Apo . A third tourist office (Mon-Sat 8am-6pm; tel 082/221 6798) is located next to Apo View Hotel in J Camus Street. The Immigration Office (tel 082/227 4783) is on the third floor, CAM Building, Monteverde Avenue. There are banks and moneychangers everywhere in Davao, so access to cash should not be a problem. Many are gathered in the area around University Mall, Roxas Avenue. Equitable Bank is near the post office on one of the main drags, Roxas Avenue. PLDT has an office on Clara M Recto Avenue where you can place long-distance calls . For Internet access a good bet is WebHaus Internet CafA© (tel 082/222 4796) in University Mall.
