Ninoy Aquino International Airport , also known by the acronym NAIA, is in Paranaque, on the southern fringes of the city. In the arrivals hall there's a small 24-hour Department of Tourism (DoT) reception desk, where you can get maps. There are two small banks in the arrivals hall, but their opening hours are a bit erratic, so it's best to make sure you have enough pesos or US dollars to get to your hotel. Getting from the airport to the city can be a headache. The Manila Bay area is only 7km away, but there are no airport shuttle buses. The best thing is to take an official airport taxi ; they charge around P350 to the main tourist areas. You pay in advance at a small booth (in the arrivals hall), then present your receipt to the driver. Taking a non-official taxi from the airport is a risk, with many tourists being conned into paying much more than the metered rate. You should never get into a taxi that is unmarked or has other people in it.
