Lisbon has some of the best-value cafes and restaurants of any European city, serving large portions of food at sensible prices. Seafood is widely available - there's an entire central street, Rua das Portas de Santo Antao, as well as a whole enclave of restaurants across the River Tejo at Cacilhas, that specialize in it. Lisbon also has a rich vein of inexpensive foreign restaurants featuring food from the former colonies: Brazil, Mozambique, Angola and Goa. There are plenty of restaurants scattered around the Baixa, and check out the dockland area between Santa Apolonia and Alcantara where the capital's best eateries can now be found. By night head for the riverside Docas area or the Bairro Alto. Note that many restaurants are closed on Sundays , while on Saturday nights in midsummer you may need to book for the more popular places. Assume moderate prices at all the places listed below - no more than €17.50 per person - unless otherwise stated.
