fiogf49gjkf0d St Lucia's
phone system
is reliable. Public phone booths are located all around the island and take either
coins
(EC$1 or EC$0.25) or the
phone cards
available from Cable Wireless offices, post offices, pharmacies and convenience shops.
All major towns and villages have a
post office
; and the major ones in Anse La Raye, Castries, Dennery, Gros Islet, Micoud, Soufriere and Vieux Fort are open Monday through Friday 8.15am-4.30pm; sub-offices are open 1-5pm. The General Post Office on Bridge Street in Castries (tel 758/452-5157) is the island's largest and has a philatelic bureau. Sending postcards and packages to the US, Canada or Europe costs less than EC$1, but as they can take up to two weeks to reach their destination, you might want to send urgent items home via the
courier services
in Castries: FedEx are on Derek Walcott Square (tel 758/452-1320), DHL are on Manoel Street (tel 758/453-1538), and UPS on Bridge Street (tel 758/452-7211).
