Pretoria lacks the dynamism and breadth of Johannesburg's
arts and music
scene, but with the State Theatre and the lively social scene of Hatfield there's still a fair amount going on.
Sunnyside
, once the city's most dynamic area for nightlife, is now a bit sleazy in places. Much of the scene has moved on to the Hatfield and Brooklyn area, where stylish yuppies and richer students tend to hang out. Things are very different in the township areas of Mamelodi and Atteridgeville, where plenty of small clubs play South African and soul sounds. Other useful information
