Car rental Ciutadella has half a dozen car rental companies. Amongst them, there's an Avis outlet on the ring road at Avgda Jaume I El Conqueridor 81 (tel 971 381 174) and a Betacar along the street at no. 59 (tel 971 382 998).

Catamarans and ferries Two ferry companies link Ciutadella and Mallorca. The first, Cape Balear de Cruceros (tel & fax 971 818 668), operates a passenger-only catamaran service from Cala Rajada between one and three times daily. It is a 75-minute journey, which costs a?¬48 return, a single half that. The second is Iscomar (tel 902 119 128), whose car ferries run from Port d'AlcA?dia once or twice daily in three and a half hours. The single fare is a?¬26 and vehicles up to 4.5m in length cost an additional a?¬47. Remember, however, that car hire firms on the Balearics do not allow their vehicles off their home island. In Ciutadella, the tourist office has information on sailings - as does Menorca's daily newspaper, the Menorca - Diario Insular . Both ferry companies have a kiosk down on the harbourside, but these are only open around departure times. You can buy tickets at the kiosk, or (if they aren't open) on the boat.
