You'll find most of Malaga's nightlife northeast of the cathedral along and around calles Granada and Beatas and the streets circling Plaza de Uncibay , as well as in Malagueta , south of the bullring. At weekends and holidays dozens of youthful disco-bars fill the crowded streets in these areas with a cacophony of sound, and over the summer - it's dead out of season - the scene spreads out along the seafront to the suburb of Pedregalejo . Here, the streets just behind the beach host most of the action, and dozens of discos and smaller bars lie along and off the main street, Juan Sebastian Elcano. Malaga's daily paper, El Sur , is good for local entertainment listings - there's a weekly English edition.

Anden , Plaza de Uncibay. Disco-bar with a wild crowd and open till very late.

La Botellita , Pasaje Mitjana, slightly west of Plaza Uncibay, adjacent to Luna Rubia . Spanish music and a wide range of drinks at non-club prices; open till late.

La Chancla , on the beach in Pedregalejo. One of a recent rash of bars on the beach, this one bursts forth at midnight and continues until 3am or later.

Luna Rubia , Pasaje Mitjana 4, slightly west of Plaza Uncibay. Wide range of international sounds and open till dawn.

El Pimpi , c/Granada 62. Cavernous nightspot with flashing TV screens and a wide selection of sounds.

Siempre Asi , c/Convalecientes, north of Plaza Uncibay. Another late bar opening 11pm-3.30am and specializing in Spanish rock and techno.

Vankuver , Pasaje Mitjana, just off Plaza Uncibay. Wide range of international sounds and open until dawn.
