Trains
arrive at Central Station, including the local PA?gatA?g services (to and from Helsingborg, Lund and Ystad; rail passes valid). The train station also has showers (20kr) and beds (5.30am-11pm; 15kr per hour) or you can use both for 25kr. The main
bus terminal
is outside Central Station, in Centralplan, though buses from Stockholm, Helsingborg and Gothenburg arrive at Slussplan, east of Central Station, at the end of Norra Vallgatan. A one-way ticket across the Oresund bridge costs 70kr by train, or 275kr for a car load (payment is at a toll station on the Swedish side). Passenger-only
ferries and catamarans
from Copenhagen dock at various terminals along Skeppsbron. The one remaining ferry company making the trip is FlygbA?tarna (tel 040/10 39 30; 60kr one way).
The tourist office is inside the station (June-Aug Mon-Fri 9am-8pm, Sat & Sun 9am-5pm; Sept-May Mon-Fri 9am-5pm, Sat 10am-2pm; tel 040/34 12 00, imalmo.turism@malmo.se/www.malmo.se/turist ). It stocks the handy MalmA¶ This Month and sells the MalmA¶ Card , which gives free museum entry, free travel on city buses, free car parking in public places and discounts on restaurants and certain shops; it costs 150kr for 24 hours and is also available for 48 hours (275kr) and 72 hours (400kr). The tourist office also sells a good-value round-trip (Oresund rundt) ticket (199kr or 249kr depending on extent of trip; www.skanetrafiken.skane.se ), valid for two days for the train to Lund and Helsingborg, the crossing to HelsingA?r, travel on to Copenhagen (museum discounts in Copenhagen and MalmA¶) and then return by catamaran to MalmA¶. For Internet use, head for Surfer's Paradise , Amiralsgatan 14 (Mon-Fri 10am-midnight, Sat & Sun noon-midnight; 40kr/hour), Cyber Space , Engelbrektsgatan 13a (daily 10am-10pm; 44kr/hour), or the library at Regementsgatan 3 (Mon-Thurs 10am-7pm, Fri till 6pm, Sat noon-4pm; free for 30min).
MalmA¶ is one of the easier places in the south to find good, cheap
accommodation
. The tourist office sells the useful
