Buses arrive at the
bus station
on Thanon Phaholyothin, a long walk to most guesthouses, but served by samlors (around B20) and songthaews. The latter have no set routes, but cost B5 for short hops.
Longtails
from Tha Ton dock at the boat station on the north side of the Mae Fah Luang bridge. The airport, 8km northeast of town, is served by
taxis
(B100). There are two daily
flights
to and from Bangkok. Most guesthouses offer
bike
rental (B30-50). Soon Motorbikes, at 197/2 Thanon Trairat (tel 053/714068), has the best choice of
motorbikes
(from B150), and PD Tour at 869/108 Thanon Pemavipat, near the Wiang Come department store (tel 053/712829), rents out
jeeps
.
TAT
is at 448/16 Thanon Singhakai near Wat Phra Singh (daily 8.30am-4.30pm; tel 053/717433); the 24-hour
tourist police
(tel 053/717779) are here, too.
Internet access
is available at the Northern Computer Centre (daily 8am-8pm) on Thanon Phaholyothin, opposite the
Golden Triangle Inn,
and at KSC Internet, opposite the
Tourist Inn Guest House
on Thanon Jet Yot. The
Thai Airways
