Most people arrive in Pattaya by bus from Bangkok's Eastern Bus Terminal or the old Northern Bus Terminal, Moh Chit 1. The bus station is just north of Soi 1, off Thanon Pattaya Beach in North Pattaya. Buses from Ban Phe (for Ko Samet) and Trat (for Ko Chang) generally drop passengers on Thanon Sukhumvit. There's a TAT office at 609 Thanon Mu Pratamnak, off Jomtien Road, south of Pattaya Beach, daily 8.30am-4.30pm (tel 038/428750).

Public songthaews in Pattaya Beach follow a standard anti-clockwise route up Thanon Pattaya 2 as far as Thanon North Pattaya and back down Thanon Pattaya Beach (B10). Songthaews to Jomtien leave from the junction between Thanon Pattaya 2 and Thanon South Pattaya and cost B10-20. Thanon Pattaya Beach is full of touts offering motorbikes (B150-600) and jeeps (B1000) for rent.
