 fiogf49gjkf0d Of the four hundred-odd
    bars
in Pattaya, the majority are open-air "bar beers" staffed by hostesses, but not too seedy. For a more subtle drinking environment, try the
    Bamboo Bar
at the seafront end of Thanon South Pattaya, or the British-run
    Shamrock,
which is on the edge of the gay district in Pattayaland 2, but attracts a mixed clientele.
    The Hopf Brew House,
between sois Yamato and Post Office on Thanon Pattaya Beach, is styled on a German beer hall. Drinks are a lot more expensive in the bouncer-guarded go-go bars on the South Pattaya "strip" where live sex shows keep the boozers hooked through the night. Go-go dancers, shower shows and striptease are also the mainstays of the gay scene, centred on Pattayaland Soi 3, South Pattaya. Tour groups constitute the main audience at the clean, family-oriented transvestite cabarets (B400-500), which are performed three times a night at
     Alcazar,
opposite Soi 4 on Thanon Pattaya 2, and
     Tiffany's,
north of Soi 1 on Thanon Pattaya 2.
