fiogf49gjkf0d Alanya's
bus station
is a twenty-minute walk from the centre, but if you come in by local bus from Side or Manavgat you'll probably arrive at the
dolmus
terminal, five minutes north of the centre. The
tourist office
is at Carsi Mahallesi, Kalearkasa (daily 8.30am-5.30pm; tel 0242/513 1240), opposite the town museum. As in Side,
accommodation
soon fills up and prices can be high, although there's a concentration of
pansiyons
in the grid of streets between the bus station and the seafront.
Oba
, Meteoroloji Sok 8 (tel 0242/513 2675; ?5-10/$8-16), is a good budget choice, as is
Ustun Pansiyon
on the same street (tel 0242/513 2262; ?5-10/$8-16). Nearer the centre, behind Damlatas Cad,
Pension Best
, Alaaddinoglu Sok 23 (tel 0242/513 0446; under ?5/$8), has immaculately clean rooms and apartments and a very helpful host. Two other central alternatives are
Hotel Gunaydin
, Kultur Cad 26 (tel 0242/513 1943; under ?5/$8), and
Pansiyon Alanya
, Nergis Sok 4 (tel 0242/513 1897; under ?5/$8).
Campers
can head to the Forestry Authority-run
Orman Kamp
, 30km to the west, or
Perle
, 15km to the east. For
food
, the small streets running between Gazipasa Cad and Hukumet Cad have lots of cheap
pide
and kebab places. Immediately north of here,
Burak,
Muftuler Cad, Kalgadam Sok 7, and
Buhara
and
Gulistan
on Kuyular Onu Sok offer excellent steam-tray and grilled food at very reasonable prices.
Kale
, overlooking the harbour, offers good food and views, at a price. My Donose Chatroom is one of a number of
Internet
cafes on Iskele Caddesi.
