fiogf49gjkf0d Konya's new
bus station
is 10km out of town, from where the Konak
dolmus
connects with the town centre; the
train station
is around 2km out of the centre at the far end of Istasyon Cad, connected to the centre by regular
dolmuses
. The
tourist office
is at MevlA?na Cad 21 (Mon-Fri 8am-5.30pm; tel 0332/351 1074). Konya's better
hotels
are on or just north of MevlA?na Cad. The recently renovated
Otel Tur
, Esarizade Sok 13 (tel 0332/351 9825; A?5-10/$8-16), is quiet, comfortable and friendly; the
Yeni KA¶sk
, Kadalar Sok 28 (tel 0332/352 0671; A?5-10/$8-16), has clean rooms with en-suite facilities and is probably the best of the cheapish options; and the
Otel A?esme
at Akifpasa Sok 21, off Istanbul Cad (tel 0322/351 2426; under A?5/$8), has rooms with baths which can be bargained down except in December, during the annual MevlA?na festival, when many hotels fill up. It's worth also keeping in mind the reasonable
Bella Hotel
, Aziziye Cad 19 (tel 0322/351 4070; A?5-10/$8-16). As for
eating
, the
Sifa Lokantas
s, MevlA?na Cad 29, is popular and very reasonably priced and the nearby
Sema
offers reasonable kebab options. The
Tilsum Restaurant
, west of the centre on Meram Cad, serves excellent kebabs but closes early. The
KA¶sk
next to the MevlA?na museum serves local Konya kebab specialities and has live music. Express Internet is at 21 AlA?eddin Bulvara, and Online Internet at Inceminare Sok 81c.
