Ronaldsway airport is at Ballasalla, ten miles southwest of Douglas. Buses (every 30min-1hr 7am-11pm) connect the airport with Castletown/Port St Mary or Douglas. A taxi from the airport costs around A?13 to Douglas. Ferries and Sea Cats dock by the Sea Terminal at the southern end of the Douglas waterfront. Fifty yards beyond the forecourt taxi rank, the Lord Street bus station is the hub of the island's bus routes; the Travel Shop here (Mon, Wed & Fri 10am-12.30pm & 1.30-5.45pm, Tues, Thurs & Sat 8am-12.30pm & 1.30-5.45pm; tel 01624/662525), at the bottom of Lord Street, has timetable information and sells Island Explorer travel tickets for buses and trains - see "The rest of the island" for details.

North Quay runs 300 yards west from the bus station alongside the river and fishing port to Douglas Station, the northern terminus of the steam railway to Port Erin. The waterfront (progressively Loch, Central and Queen's promenades) runs a mile and a half north to Derby Castle Station for the electric railway to Laxey and Ramsey - take the horse-drawn tram along the promenade or buses #24, #24a, #26 or #26a from Douglas bus station.
