Trains from Edinburgh stop at Dunfermline's train station , halfway down the long hill of St Margaret's Drive, southeast of the centre. It's a fifteen-minute walk up the hill from here to the tourist office at 1 High St, immediately opposite the City Chambers (April-Sept Mon-Sat 10am-5pm; Aug also Sun 11.30am-3.30pm; phone for winter hours; tel 01383/720999). An hourly bus from Edinburgh and two-hourly services from Glasgow, Perth and Dundee come in at the bus station , in the Kingsgate Centre, on the north side of town. There are some good, well-priced places to eat , including the stylish modern Bar Cafe Brio on the corner of Canmore and Guildhall streets, Blossom's , 6-8 Chalmers St (tel 01383 623092), for Chinese food, or you can get bar meals at the Old Inn , just down Kirkgate, which has the Creepy Wee Pub right next door.
