The
train station
is at the top end of the High Street, a ten-minute hike from the
bus station
, which lies adjacent to the Quadrant Shopping Centre. Nearby, on Plymouth Street, is the
tourist office
(Mon-Sat 9.30am-5.30pm, May-Sept also Sun 10am-4pm; tel 01792/468321). Most of the sights are within walking distance of each other; popular suburbs, such as Uplands and Sketty, near the university, are a bracing thirty-minute walk from the centre, although buses cover the suburbs extremely thoroughly.
Ferries
to Cork in Ireland leave roughly once a day from the docks, around a mile east of the town centre (tel 01792/456116,
