From Denver International Airport there are a number of inexpensive flights , or you can book the Colorado Springs Shuttle (tel 719/578-5232; $27). Greyhound buses stop at 120 S Weber St downtown. Colorado Springs' visitor center is at 104 Cascade St (summer daily 9am-5pm; rest of year daily 10am-4pm; tel 719/635-7506 or 1-800/368-4748).

Appealing places to eat downtown include the excellent Olive Branch , 23 S Tejon Ave (tel 719/475-1199), with good vegetarian food. The Phantom Canyon Brewing Co , 2 E Pikes Peak Ave (tel 719/635-2800), is a great place for some microbrews and authentic pub food. Out in Old Colorado City, the family-owned Henri's Mexican , 2427 W Colorado Ave (tel 719/634-9031), pulls in the crowds for home-style food and superb margaritas. Nearby is one of the best bars in the city, Meadow Muffins , 2432 W Colorado Ave (tel 719/633-0583), festooned with movie memorabilia, and serving good burgers, sandwiches and salads. It also hosts live music and stays open late (until 2am Fri & Sat).
