fiogf49gjkf0d The Greyhound
bus
station, 100 Malaga St, is a fifteen-minute walk from the center. St Augustine is best seen on foot, though a
sightseeing train
tours the main landmarks (daily 8.30am-5pm; $12; tickets from 170 San Marco Ave or the visitor center). There's no public transportation, so if you want to get to the beaches two miles away and you don't have a car you'll have to either rent a bike from the youth hostel, or take a
taxi
(Ancient City Cabs; tel 904/824-8161). The
visitor center
, 10 Castillo Drive (daily 8am-5.30pm; tel 1-800/653-2489,
), shows a free film on the history of the town, has recommendations for a variety of tours and information on the numerous local festivals. Harbor
cruises
(tel 904/824-1806; $8.50) leave five or six times a day from the City Yacht Pier, near the foot of King Street. The well-organized and informative Tour St Augustine (tel 1-800/797-3778) leads historical and ghost walking tours. Gamsey Carriage Co. (tel 904/829-2391; $15) offers horse-drawn carriage tours both day and night.
