The Greyhound bus station is north of downtown between 18th and 19th avenues, at 180 9th St N. An Amtrak bus link from Tampa pulls in some way out of town at the Pinellas mall on 7200 Hwy-19. The Chamber of Commerce is at 100 Second Ave N (Mon-Fri 8am-5pm; tel 727/821-4715, ). Staying in St Petersburg can be less costly than at the beaches. There is one youth hostel (members of any hostel organization pay $15): the St Petersburg International Youth Hostel , in the Bay Park Arms , 326 First Ave N, with some private rooms from $39 per night or $125 a week (tel 727/822-4141; up to $35/$35-50). Of the dozens of cheap motels along Fourth Street (Hwy-92), the Kentucky at no. 4246 (tel 727/526-7373; $35-50) is a good option. The area is also rich in charismatic bed and breakfasts such as Orleans Bishop Bed and Breakfast , 256 First Ave N (tel 727/894-4312; $75-100). Downtown, the restored Hotel Ponce De Leon at 95 Central Ave (tel 1-877/5-DELEON or tel 727/822-4139; $35-75) is good value. For great, inexpensive Cuban food , head for Tangelo's Grill , 226 First Ave N (tel 727/894-1695). For a more stylish dinner try the Moon Under Water , 332 Beach Drive NE (tel 727/896-6160); overlooking the waterfront, this inexpensive British tavern is well known for its cocktails and curries.
