There's a free in-town shuttle service between 7.30am and midnight. Ketchum's visitor center , on the corner of 4th and Main streets, runs a free reservation service for accommodation (daily 9am-5pm; tel 208/726-3423 or 1-800/634-3347, ). Room rates everywhere are highest in the heavy summer and winter seasons. You can save a bundle by staying in nearby Hailey, twelve miles south of Ketchum.

The luxurious 600-room Sun Valley Lodge resort is very expensive in season, though worth every cent in spring and fall (tel 208/622-4111 or 1-800/786-8259; winter & summer $160-250, spring & fall $75-100); also run by the resort is the Sun Valley Inn (winter & summer $100-200). A cheaper option in Ketchum is the comfortable, welcoming Lift Tower Lodge , 703 S Main St (tel 208/726-5163 or 1-800/462-8646; $100-130); the more upmarket, opulently furnished River Street Inn , 100 River St (tel 208/726-3611), is also a good choice with cozy, intimate rooms, a hot tub and excellent breakfasts. The reasonably luxurious Best Western Tyrolean Lodge (tel 208/726-5336 or 1-800/333-7912; $100-130) is also a fine, good-value choice. The Dining Room at the Sun Valley Lodge (tel 208/622-2150) serves some of the best and most elegant meals in Idaho, while in Ketchum, the Ketchum Grill , 520 East Ave (tel 208/726-4460 or 726-7434), has plenty of delicious vegetarian options. The village also has a number of decent drinking spots; Whiskey Jacques at 206 N Main St (tel 208/726-3200) is a good local watering hole, as is the busy Grumpy's at 860 Warm Springs Rd, a popular burger and beer joint.
