Omaha's Greyhound station is at 1601 Jackson St; Amtrak
trains
depart very late at night, and arrive long before the city wakes up, at 1003 S Ninth St. Both depots are well placed for downtown; however, local public transportation is poor.
The CVB is at 6800 Mercy Rd, exit 459 from I-80, near the old race track (Mon-Fri 8.30am-4.30pm; tel 402/444-4660 or 1-866/937-6624, ). There's also a welcome center for Nebraska as a whole, just off I-80 exit 454, across from the zoo at Tenth Street and Deer Park Boulevard (May-Oct daily 9am-5pm; tel 402/595-3990). Internet access is available at the Latte Lounge at 15418 Weir St (tel 402/891-6633), Borders bookstore at 72nd St and Dodge St (tel 402/393-5576), and the main library at 215 S 15th St (402/444-4800). Hotel rates are good, except in mid-June when the college baseball World Series comes to town. Rooms at the circular, almost cute, and certainly pretty unusual Satellite Motel , 6006 L St (tel 402/733-7373; $35-75), come clean and at good prices. The Riverview Garden B&B , 9641 N 29th St (tel 402/455-4623; $50-75), has comfortable rooms in a quiet neighborhood that overlooks the Missouri River. The well-kept Best Western White House Inn at 305 N Fort Crook Rd (tel 402/293-1600 or 1-800/962-4601; $50-75) offers good rates about five miles south of downtown. Located next to the SAC Museum, the Eugene T. Mahoney State Park (tel 402/944-2523) has campsites ($7), cabins and a lodge ($50-75/$75-100), in a family oriented setting.

restaurants
and
bars
. The
Indian Oven
