Hoi An has excellent food of all kinds, including local specialities such as cao lau, thick rice-flour noodles, beansprouts and pork-rind croutons in a light soup topped with thin slices of pork. Also look out for the steamed manioc-flour parcels of finely diced crab or shrimp called banh bao (or banh vac), and fried wanton ( hoanh thanh chien).
