Nha Trang's
long-distance bus station
sits 1km west of the city centre at 58, 23 Thang 10; if you're moving on to Buon Me Thuot, four air-con express minibuses ($3, journey time four hours), leave daily from here.
Open-tour buses
will usually drop you at a selection of hotels in town, before terminating at their respective offices
. The
train station
(ticket office daily 7.30-11am & 1.30-9pm; tel 058/822113) is a few hundred metres east along Thai Nguyen. The
airport
is just below town, a short cyclo ride from hotels. Vietnam Airlines is at 91 Nguyen Thien Thuat.
Bicycles can be rented from most hotels ($1) and there are cyclos and Honda oms aplenty. The following tour operators can arrange car rental ($30-35 per day), tours of the region and further afield, open-tour buses to Ho Chi Minh, Da Lat, Hoi An, Phan Thiet and Da Nang, as well as boat trips to nearby islands ($7 a head): Mama Linh, 2a Hung Vuong (tel 058/826693); Khanh Hoa Tourism, 1 Tran Hung Dao (tel 058/822753); My A Tours, 10 Hung Vuong (tel 058/826195); TM Brothers CafAŠ, 22 Tran Hung Dao (tel 058/814556); Hanh CafAŠ, 22 Tran Hung Dao (tel 058/829014). Vietcombank, 17 Quang Trung, changes cash and travellers' cheques, and can also advance cash against Visa, Mastercard and JCB cards. The GPO, 2 Tran Phu (daily 7am-9pm), has fax, poste restante , DHL courier and IDD facilities; IDD is also available at the smaller post office opposite the Vien Dong, at 50 Le Thanh Ton (24hr) or at 23, Biet Thu (daily 6.30am-9pm). Internet access is available at Internet Services at 2 Le Loi opposite the main GPO, and at the post office (24hr access) on Le Thanh Ton. Nha Trang's hospital is below the city stadium, at 19 Yersin (tel 058/822168) and there's an English-speaking pharmacy at 12 Tran Quy Cap, in the centre.
Petty crime
has become something of a problem in Nha Trang. Due attention should be taken at all times with your belongings not only on the beach, but also on cyclos and around the streets after dark. Other useful information
