Food and drink

FOOD AND DRINK
--------------
ASIAN FOOD IS THE SPECIALITY THROUGHOUT BAHRAIN AND NOT
ARAB AS WE WOULD TEND TO THINK. INDIAN, PAKISTANI, THAI
EUROPEAN, CHINESE, JAPANESE, LEBANESE, MEXICAN, AMERICAN
AND FILIPINO MAY BE FOUND ALMOST EVERYWHERE.

CAFES AND BARS:
MOST CAFES ARE MODERN AND LOCATED IN THE LARGER SHOPPING
AREAS. TRADITIONAL COFFEE HOUSES SERVE MOSTLY TEA AND IF
ASKED FOR COFFEE WILL SERVE YOU TURKISH COFFEE.

SNACKS:
SNACKS RUN FROM MODERN TO TRADITIONAL AND ALSO TO WESTERN
STYLE FOODS, SUCH AS BURGERS, FRENCH FRIES, ETC.

DRINKS:
ARAK (GRAPE SPIRIT FLAVOURED WITH ANISEED) OR BEER ARE THE MOST
COMMON DRINKS. ALCOHOL IS AVAILABLE FOR NON-MUSLIMS IN GOOD
RESTAURANTS, NIGHTCLUBS & LUXURY HOTELS, EXCEPT DURING RAMADAN.
STRONG ARABIC COFFEE AND TEA IS ALSO WIDELY AVAILABLE.
