The very helpful Instituto HondureA±o de Turismo , in the Edificio Europa, Av RamA?n Cruz and C RepA?blica de MA©xico Tegucigalpa (tel 238 3974, fax 222 6621, touristinfo@iht.hn ), can provide general information about where to go and what to see in the country; they also have booths at Tegucigalpa and San Pedro Sula airports, and a free information service in the USA (tel 800 410-9608). They also have good links with the main tour operators and the luxury hotels.

National parks and reserves are administered by the government forestry agency, COHDEFOR (Apdo Postal #1378; tel 223 7703, fax 223 2653). If you intend spending much time in any of the parks, it's worth visiting their headquarters in Tegucigalpa for detailed information on flora and fauna. The office is a little difficult to find, just off the Carretera al Norte in ComayagA?ela.
