GENERAL DESCRIPTION.
--------------------
ARGENTINA IS SITUATED IN SOUTH AMERICAN CONTINENT.
ARGENTINA IS 3500KM LONG AND 1400KM WIDE. THE COUNTRY ALONG
THE WESTERN BORDER IS MADE UP OF LARGE MOUNTAIN CHAIN, THE
ANDES, AND AN ENDLESS PLATEAU SPREADING TOWARDS THE EAST WITH
SOME OTHER MINOR MOUNTAIN PLAINS. FURTHER SOUTH LIES
PATAGONIA WITH ITS GREAT BARREN PLATEAUS THAT REACH FROM THE
ATLANTIC TO THE ANDES, DECREASING IN HEIGHT. TO THE NORTHEAST
OF MESOPOTAMIA WHICH LIES BETWEEN TWO RIVERS, THE PARANA AND
URUGUAY HAS ITS OWN CHARACTERISTICS: IN THE SOUTH, IT TENDS
TO BE A VERY HILLY AREA, WHILE IN CORRIENTES IT'S MOSTLY
COVERED BY LAGOONS AND MARSHLANDS. IN THE SOUTHWEST IS A SMALL
'SWITZERLAND' WITH A STRING OF BEAUTIFUL ICY LAKES FRAMED BY
MOUNTAINS.

ARGENTINEAN COASTAL REGIONS ARE MOSTLY SANDY WITH PLENTY OF
DUNES IN THE NORTH EXCEPT IN PATAGONIA WHERE YOU WILL FIND
MAGNIFICENT CLIFFS RATHER THAN SANDY BEACHES. IN THE SOUTHERN
AREA OF SIERRAS OF CORDOBA, YOU WILL FIND UP TO 40 LAKES, MOST
OF THEM OF GLACIAL ORIGIN. A FEW RIVERS DRAIN FROM THESE LAKES
ACROSS THE PATAGONIAN PLATEAUS, WITH THE MOST IMPORTANT OF
THEM BEING THE NEGRO.
