GENERAL DESCRIPTION.
--------------------
BOLIVIA IS DIVIDED INTO TWO VERY CONTRASTING PHYSICAL REGIONS
WHICH HAVE VERY DIFFERENT WEATHER & CLIMATE. ANDES & ANDEAN
PLATEAU EXPERIENCE AN EXTREME TYPE OF TROPICAL HIGHLAND CLIMATE.
ANNUAL PRECIPITATION IS LOW & MOST OF IT FALLS BETWEEN DEC & MAR.
THERE IS LITTLE VARIATION IN ANNUAL TEMPERATURE ALTHOUGH THERE
ARE SIGNIFICANT DIFFERENCES BETWEEN DAY & NIGHT TEMPERATURES DUE
TO HIGH ELEVATION. THE LOWLANDS WHICH COMPRISE MORE THAN HALF OF
THE COUNTRY HAVE AN EQUATORIAL CLIMATE. TEMPERATURES ARE WARM TO
HOT THROUGHOUT THE YEAR WITH A SINGLE RAINY SEASON FROM OCTOBER
TO MARCH AVERAGING 1000 - 1500MM OF RAINFALL.
CLOTHING: WARM CLOTHING FOR WINTER AT HIGH ALTITUDE IS ESSENTIAL.
MEDIUM WEIGHT WITH OVER-COAT FOR THE ALTIPLANO AND TROPICAL TO
LIGHT FOR THE LOWLANDS. RAINWEAR IMPORTANT DURING RAINY SEASON.
ACCLIMATIZATION IS NECESSARY IN HIGH ELEVATIONS.
