BRUNEI DARUSSALEM IS SURROUNDED ON THE NORTHERN SIDE BY THE
SOUTH CHINA SEA AND TO THE WEST BY THE SARAWAK AN EASTERN
MALAYSIAN STATE. ON THE NORTHERN PLAIN THE COAST STRETCHES
ALONG A CORAL SAND STRAND. THE WESTERN REGIONS CONSISTS OF
VALLEYS AND RIVERS SUCH AS THE TUTONG, BELAIT AND BRUNEI
RIVERS, ALL OF WHICH FLOW TOWARDS THE SEA. IT IS MAINLY A
HILLY COUNTRY RISING TO AT LEAST 500M ABOVE SEA LEVEL. THE
TEMBURONG RIVER BASIN CAN BE FOUND TO THE EAST, THIS BASIN
BEGINS IN THE MOUNTAINS AND FLOWS THROUGH THE FOREST
NORTHWARDS TO THE SOUTH CHINA SEA. FORESTS REPRESENT ABOUT
80% OF BRUNEI'S TOTAL LAND AREA.
