fiogf49gjkf0d In major towns,
post offices
(
pastas
) are usually open Monday to Friday 8am-6pm, Saturday 8am-4pm; in smaller places hours are more restricted. Post offices are the best places to buy stamps, but it's also possible to obtain them from some newspaper kiosks and tourist offices. Lithuania has standard international rates for both airmail and surface letters and postcards. Virtually all public
telephones
now operate on cards (
telefono kortele
; 8.74Lt, 12.96Lt, 16.50Lt and 30.66Lt) from post offices and newspaper kiosks - the higher-denomination cards should sufffice for a short-duration international call. To make a long-distance call, first dial 82 before dialling the area code and phone number. When calling Lithuania from abroad, the initial 82 is omitted. For international calls from Lithuania, dial 8, wait for the tone, followed by 10, then the country code, area code and phone number.
There's a good choice of
Internet cafes
in Vilnius, but they're still pretty rare elsewhere.
