Standard shopping hours
are Mon-Fri 9.30/10am-5.30/7pm, Sat 9/9.30am-2/4pm. All shops and banks are closed, and public transport and many museums run to Sunday schedules on the following days: Jan 1; Maundy Thursday; Good Friday; Easter Day; Easter Monday; Prayer Day (fourth Friday after Easter); Ascension (around mid-May); Whit Sunday; Whit Monday; Constitution Day (June 5); Dec 24 (afternoon only); Dec 25 and Dec 26. On International Workers' Day, which falls on May 1, many offices and shops close at noon. Other useful information
