AGREES TO TAKE HER OR HIM. MAKE SURE THE METER IS WORKING.
A GREEN LIGHT ON THE TAXI ROOF, AND/OR A SIGN IN THE
FRONT WINDSCREEN SAYING 'LIBRE' MEANS IT IS VACANT.

METRO: IN LARGE CITIES SUCH ARE BARCELONA, MADRID, VALENCIA
AND BILBAO, UNDERGROUND NETWORKS ARE AVAILABLE. THIS WAY OF
TRAVELLING IS THE FASTEST AND IS QUITE CHEAP. TRY TO AVOID
RUSH HOURS. THE MADRID METRO OPERATES UNTIL 0130. THE
MOST ECONOMICAL TICKET IS THE ONE ALLOWING 10 JOURNEYS
WHICH COSTS AROUND ESP 650-750. THERE ARE ALSO COMBINED
EMT BUS AND METRO TICKETS FOR VARIOUS DURATIONS. DETAILS
ARE DISPLAYED AT ALL METRO STATIONS.

LONG DISTANCE BUSES - THERE ARE MANY BUSES LINKING
SPANISH TOWNS AND CITIES. THESE BUSES ARE COMFORTABLE AND
QUICK. NO SMOKING IS ALLOWED ONBOARD.

BUSES - MUNICIPAL BUSES OPERATE ROUTES IN THE MAIN CITIES.

SERVICE BEGINS AT FIVE THIRTY IN THE MORNING AND FINISH AT
ONE THIRTY THE NEXT MORNING. SOME NIGHT BUSES OPERATE.

RAIL:
RENFE THE RED NACIONAL DE LOS FERROCARRILES ESPANOLES.
LOCAL TRAINS TEND TO BE SLOW AND STOP AT ALL STATIONS.
TER AND TALGO ON THE OTHERHAND ARE LONG DISTANCE
SERVICES, FAST AND PUNCTUAL. THESE TRAINS ARE VERY
COMFORTABLE. ADVANCE RESERVATIONS MUST BE MADE OR THESE
TRAINS AND A SUPPLEMENT IS PAYABLE.
A NEW HIGH SPEED TRAIN SERVICE RUNS BETWEEN THE ATOCHA
STATION, IN THE SOUTH OF MADRID, AND SEVILLA, VIA CIUDAD
REAL AND CORDOBA. THE AVERAGE JOURNEY TIME FROM MADRID TO
SEVILLA IS 2 HOURS AND 35 MINUTES.
SPANISH RAIL PASSES ARE AVAILABLE TO NON-RESIDENTS. THESE
ARE VALID ON ALL RENFE SERVICES.
SOME NARROW GAUGE RAILWAYS, MAINLY IN THE NORTH AND NORTH
WEST SPAIN ARE RUN BY A GROUP OF INDEPENDENT COMPANIES
KNOWN AS FEVE. RENFE PASSES ARE NOT VALID ON THESE ROUTES.
AIR:
SPANISH CITIES ARE LINKED TO THE ISLANDS BY INTERNAL
FLIGHTS. IBERIA IS THE NATIONAL LINE AND FOR MORE
INFORMATION THEY SHOULD BE CONTACTED. FLIGHTS BETWEEN
THE MAINLAND AND THE ISLANDS, AND INTER-ISLAND FLIGHTS
ARE ALSO OPERATED BY COMPANIES WITHIN THE IBERIA GROUP,
NAMELY BINTER, BINTER CANARIAS, AND AVIACO.

SEA:
THERE ARE REGULAR FERRY SERVICES TO THE BALEARICS AND
CANARY ISLANDS FROM THE MAINLAND. MAIN DEPARTURE PORTS ARE
VALENCIA, ALICANTE, CADIZ AND BARCELONA. FERRY & JETFOIL
SERVICES OPERATE WITHIN THE TWO ARCHIPELAGOS, THE
CANARIES AND THE BALEARICS.
