Pharmacies and medical treatment

There's at least one pharmacy, or
apotek
, in every town in Iceland, as well stocked as any chemist you'll find at home. Most open during normal business hours, though some in Reykjavik and Akureyri stay open longer.
Doctors
are similarly distributed, though if you need
hospital treatment
, you'll need to get yourself to a major regional centre - Reykjavik also has several
health centres
with general practitioners on hand through the day. Other useful information
